According to the Maku Free Zone news site, during the meeting of the CEO of the Maku Free Zone Organization with the officials and economic activists of China’s Fujian province, capabilities and opportunities for bilateral cooperation between Maku and the Chinese were discussed.
In this meeting, the CEO of the Maku Free Zone Organization stating that this area has hosted investors from China in the past also acknowledged that this area is the largest free zone in the country and the Middle East and due to its geographical location and holding Bazergan border as the largest land border and commercial gateway has always had a great role and importance in Iran’s trade with CIS countries and Europe.
Hosein Garousi explained: By having an exceptional position in the transportation and transit of goods due to its connection to the markets of Europe and Central Asia and having an airport with an air border with the possibility of international flights and having well-equipped logistics infrastructures (warehouses and smart parking)) to facilitate export and import, Maku has provided a unique capacity for investment in the field of logistics and transportation.
Location of significant part of the Aras river in the region and existence of seven dams, including the Aras dam and other dams such as Karamabad, holding vast lands for various activities in the agricultural sector (agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, fisheries), is another capacity in the field of agriculture, he added.
