The CEO of Maku Free Zone Organization, accompanied by Iranian Consul General in Trabzon, met with the CEO of Trabzon Free Trade and Industrial Zone in Turkey.
In this meeting, Hossein Garousi introduced Maku Free Zone and investment opportunities in the fields of rail, air and land transportation, and discussed establishing flights and facilitating imports and exports between the two regions. Amin Bilgin, CEO of Trabzon Port, said: The capacities of the Trabzon Port for developing trade relations with Iran are historic, and these joint capacities can be used to develop trade between Iran and Turkey.
He added: Today, transit and transportation have become more advanced, and the historical Silk Road can be activated as the modern Silk Road, and part of Iran’s economic activities can also be carried out through the Trabzon Port.
Trabzon Province, located in northeastern Turkey and on the shores of the Black Sea, plays a prominent role in the Turkish economy. For centuries, the port of Trabzon has been a very important center of trade and transit of goods between the continents of Europe and Asia on the Silk Road and trade with Iran. While passing through Iran, trade caravans used the port of Trabzon to send their trade goods to European markets.
