ECO Secretary General: Maku’s Key Role in Developing Logistics Connections Among ECO Countries

The Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), Asad Majid Khan, on the sidelines of the 28th meeting of foreign ministers of ECO member countries in Mashhad, said: The strategic location of  Maku Free Zone, which was introduced by the CEO of the organization, will definitely be important in developing the logistical connections of ECO countries.

Asad Majid Khan added: ” Mashhad Summit has a forward-looking approach and emphasizes the expansion of regional cohesion as well as efforts to develop infrastructure connections and greater cohesion among members, and in this context, Maku Free Zone should also be considered.”

Hosein Garousi, CEO of Maku Free Zone Organization, invited Asad Majid Khan, Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), to attend the international conference “on the role of diplomacy in the economic development of the Maku Free Zone” which will be held IN Tehran at the IRIB International Conference Center, on December 17.

The 28th meeting of foreign ministers of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) countries concluded in Mashhad with the presence of foreign ministers, deputy ministers, ambassadors, senior experts from these countries, ECO officials, and 20 foreign delegations to outline the organization’s program for the coming decade.

On the first day of this two-day summit, ambassadors, deputy foreign ministers, and experts from ECO member countries drafted cooperation documents in various economic, cultural, and social fields in a meeting, to be reviewed and approved by the foreign ministers in the final day.

The second day of the summit began on Tuesday morning (December 3rd) at a hotel in Mashhad with the presence of more than 100 domestic and foreign guests, led by Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi. Four ECO foreign ministers, including Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and the Republic of Azerbaijan, were present at the opening ceremony, deputy ministers of other member countries, including Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkmenistan, participated in the ceremony.
